Welcome Laurel Weber and Doom & Daisies Podcast to the Oconee Business Center!

Laurel had been producing her podcast from the Short-Term Office Space in downtown Walhalla, one of the local businesses destroyed by the recent devastating fires.

When Dave Eldridge learned that several office tenants, including Laurel, had been displaced, we reached out to see how we could help.

We're honored to be able to provide Laurel with temporary office space while she determines her next location. In difficult times like these, we're reminded of just how important it is for our community to come together, support one another, and lend a helping hand wherever we can.

Doom & Daisies is an independent podcast and digital media business created around two contrasting sides of storytelling and entertainment. The podcast is hosted by two best friends, Laurel Weber, a Walhalla native, and Valerie Peek, who resides in Atlanta. Together, they bring distinct perspectives, personalities, and experiences to each episode, creating a thoughtful and engaging conversation that connects local roots with a broader regional outlook.

The name reflects the balance between the "Doom" side, which explores the darker, stranger, and more unusual corners of history and culture, and the "Daisies" side, which brings a lighter perspective through pop culture, books, movies, music, and everyday conversation. Together, these elements create a space where interesting, unusual, and sometimes thought provoking topics can be discussed with humor, personality, and curiosity.

The podcast covers a broad range of subjects, including history, folklore, pop culture, entertainment, unexplained stories, and other unusual or interesting topics. Some episodes touch on real world events or cases, but the overall focus is storytelling, discussion, and entertainment rather than sensationalism.

The business operates as a small independent media venture, with the space being used for podcast recording, content creation, research, and related creative work.

New podcast episodes go live every Friday morning at 5:30 am wherever you get your podcasts. Video episodes are released on Youtube every Saturday at noon.
